[rabbitmq-discuss] Best practices for starting/managing consumer processes, PHP/Linux

Hello,

Is there any way to define default consumer processes in a portable way?

Im using message queues for background processing but Im not responsible 
for the operation, only the development of the application.

Are there any tools that work along side RabbitMQ on Linux that would allow 
me to define exactly what consumers should be running for the application 
to be functional, or is this typically done with custom shell scripts etc?
