That's the thing, I wouldn't expect the underlying storage to have any
effect on that operation either. That should be something that's purely
bound by RAM/CPU and kernel/erlang socket handling. I'll definitely try and
put together a reproducible test case that demonstrates the issue so we can
drill into it a bit better.
