I probably should have noted that I am using erlang R16B02.
Thanks,

Subject: [rabbitmq-discuss] Error starting rabbitmq in IPv6 environment
Hi RabbitMQ devs,
I have found a bug starting rabbitmq in a linux pure IPv6 environment where /etc/resolv.conf has a "nameserver" line specifying an IPv6 address. This is what I see:
# service rabbitmq-server start
Starting rabbitmq-server: FAILED - check /var/log/rabbitmq/startup_{log, _err}
rabbitmq-server.
# cat /var/log/rabbitmq/startup_log
ERROR: epmd error for host "a4ipn434": address (cannot connect to host/port)
Note that /etc/hosts specifies the FQ and short hostnames of the machine:
2620:0:170:586::1:1 a4ipn434.xxxxxxxxxxx a4ipn434
And /etc/resolv.conf specifies a nameserver with an IPv6 address:
nameserver 2620:0:170:58e::4
If I comment out this nameserver line in resolv.conf, then rabbitmq starts with no problem:
# service rabbitmq-server start
Starting rabbitmq-server: SUCCESS
rabbitmq-server.
# cat /var/log/rabbitmq/startup_log

Also, FYI, I tried this with rabbitmq versions 3.2.1-1 and 3.2.0-1.
Thanks,
