Nothing has changed in this area of code for ages and, tbh, it's hard to 
see how it could fail - it's just the five lines at 
http://hg.rabbitmq.com/rabbitmq-server/file/d61b25171094/src/rabbit_channel.erl#l1104

Are your connections blocked perhaps due to alarms / flow control?
