[rabbitmq-discuss] gradual increase of File descriptors reaching-1024 (max limit)

Hi All,
Am new to rabbitmq and I have built a 3 node rabbitmq cluster. the cluster 
was build a week back and I already see a gradual increase in the # of File 
descriptor used, which is now slowly reaching the max limit (1024)

On reading more about this, I know this limit can be increased by changing 
the ulimit to XXXX in /etc/default/rabbitmq-server. 

But before I increase this, which will need service restart, 
What is the possible reason for this gradual increase? 
Is there a way to find out if there is a connection leak?
