Sorry but I’ve some doubts RabbitMQ or Mnesia was the root cause.
It sounds like the disk corrupted and that in turned caused
Mnesia corruption/termination.

However, lots and lots of federation connections can be an unrelated
issue. Is there anything in RabbitMQ log files? (see [1] if you don’t know
where to find them).
