Hi Michael,
I am running Ubuntu..
as far as installation:
for erlang
added into sources.list

deb http://binaries.erlang-solutions.com/debian squeeze contrib
wget -O - http://binaries.erlang-solutions.com/debian/erlang_solutions.asc \
 | sudo apt-key add -
 sudo apt-get update
 sudo apt-get install esl-erlang
For rabbitmq :
www.rabbitmq.com/releases/rabbitmq-server/v3.1.3/rabbitmq-server-generic-unix-3.1.3.tar.gz
and untared under opt

I did the changes in the init script for rabbitmq to start automatically (hopefully did it the right way)
thanks in advance for your help

Luis

I have attached my init.d script for review
Luis,

Let me clarify: you are using a custom init script? is there a reason to do so?
What OS are you running RabbitMQ on and how was it installed?
