When we last looked at this we found that it wasn't so simple. The RPM 
docs say to use "or" rather than "|":

...but that seems to break completely on RPM 4 systems. (You end up with 
an RPM which depends on "erlang" and "esl-erlang" and "or".)

So is the "|" a Debianism there, or does it really work for RPMs?
