Thanks for taking the trouble to report this. When I run your script
with QoS 1 I see an error in the broker logfile like this:

   {function_clause,[{gb_trees,take_smallest1,[nil]},
                     {gb_trees,take_smallest,1},

This issue has been solved and will appear in the next release and
nightly builds.
