[rabbitmq-discuss] Ubuntu 12.04 Rabbitmq-server hangs after being stopped or restarted

thanks for your reply...
I was able to figure out the issue thankfully...

rabbitmq was timming out because was unable to connect to epmd ":address (cannot connect to host)"
in addition, several instances were still running, so I had to kill them and reboot,,
after that everything worked fine...

Depending on which version you are running the root cause may be masked
by this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rabbitmq-server/+bug/1053424/
Don't use rabbitmq-server-2.7.1-0ubuntu4, if indeed that is the case.

If you are not using that version then can you please describe in more
detail what you mean by "hang". How long have you waited? What is the
CPU usage like? Does the same happen on an unclustered node?
