In my experience of both, ActiveMQ uses a lot MORE memory than RabbitMQ, 
although that might just be a "feature" of the JVM.

RMQ seems to be quite efficient in terms of resource usage, and I'd 
definitely choose it over AMQ if memory use is a concern.
