No not really, and there's really very little you can tweek which will
likely improve performance. Improving disk performance is likely to be
key here. If you're on a virtualised platform, then giving it raw access
to the underlying disk might help, but a few disk benchmarks (e.g.
bonnie++) from within the VM might be revealing.
