Having now read your blog post, I should also do my usual thing of 
pimping the management plugin - if you want to offer the equivalent of 
rabbitmqctl status or rabbitmqctl list_queues to non-root, non-local 
users, the management plugin can do that. It even comes with a command 
line tool now.

And I think you should carefully lock down access to things like 
rabbitmqctl stop and rabbitmqctl reset, but that may just be me :)
