Is the solution installing erlang 5.6.3 with the packaged version or just install rabbitmq from source?

Suhail

On Sun, Aug 9, 2009 at 4:10 PM, Matthias Radestock <matthias@lshift.net> wrote:
I installed RabbitMQ using the *.deb file available on the download page. Whenever I try to run the server however I get:
suhail ~: /etc/init.d/rabbitmq-server restart
Restarting rabbitmq-server: No nodes running
TIMEOUT - check /var/log/rabbitmq/startup_{log,err}
rabbitmq-server.

The startup_log/err files do not provide much information, this problem has been discussed a bit before: http://lists.rabbitmq.com/pipermail/rabbitmq-discuss/2009-April/003767.html

I can't tell if it's a problem with my hostname or perhaps erlang installation. I am using Erlang R13B01 (erts-5.7.2).
Are you sure it's not the very same problem described in that thread, namely the use of a custom erlang installation with a packaged RabbitMQ installation?
The thread at http://www.nabble.com/Error-(re)installing-rabbit-on-ubuntu-9.04-td24633591.html may also be of help.
