See the setting for RABBITMQ_MNESIA_DIR in 
http://www.rabbitmq.com/relocate.html#unix, and the explanation above it...

So note that RabbitMQ isn't actually storing *messages* in mnesia. They 
are written to files under $RABBITMQ_MNESIA_DIR but they are not part of 
the mnesia database.
