Two notes on this:

imfile in rsyslog
http://www.rsyslog.com/doc/imfile.html

and logstash:
http://logstash.net/docs/1.1.9/outputs/syslog

Though off hand if you're just wanting to redirect to a local syslog file,
the rsyslog imfile parameter is probably what you're looking for.  If you
want a more "log strategy" solution, look at logstash.  Logstash even has
AMQP input/output adapters and a pretty nice interface in Kibana.
