[rabbitmq-discuss] How can a consumer get notification of arrival of a message in the queue?

I have written a client program using rabbitmq C library. But i wish to know,
how do the consumer program know if a message has arrived in the queue? It
can arrive at any point of time, or might not.

I understand for Java, there is a subscription mechanism:

But how about C/C++?

Please help.
