[rabbitmq-discuss] Change node cookie without wiping RabbitMQ database

Consider the following scenario:

* I have a running RabbitMQ, with erlang cookie XXX
* I want to change the cookie to YYY and restart RabbitMQ

However, when I actually change the cookie, RabbitMQ hangs during the
"Starting database" phase. My understanding is that this is due to
Mnesia table cookie mismatch.

What can be done about this? Is there a well-defined
backup/wipe/restore process for this case?
