[rabbitmq-discuss] RabbitMQ Client recommendations

Hello there

We are currently building a Device running an embedded Java-application.
This Device will contain a RabbitMQ-Client which is supposed to connect to a
RabbitMQ-Server v.2.7.1.

So my question is:
What RabbitMQ-Client would you recommend to embed in the Device, v.2.7.1
(same as server) or v.2.8.7 (the newest)?

The RabbitMQ-Client v.2.8.7 will hopefully be the most stable and best
performing, but is it fully compatible with RabbitMQ-Server v.2.7.1, or
should we rather stick to the RabbitMQ-Client v.2.7.1 compatible with the
RabbitMQ-Server?

Please advise.
