[rabbitmq-discuss] pika basic_ack dying

The main process runs the queue and spawns subprocesses to handle messages 
from the queue based on their routing key - I pass a reference to the 
connection object to the subprocess to call upon completion.

as far as i can tell, it's something to do with managing pre-existing data 
in the queues
