Hmm. I really wouldn't expect that to happen with 2.x. I'll pop open a 
Windows VM and see if I can replicate it.

If you have the option I'd recommend it. 100MB is probably getting 
within sight of the sensible maximum - while there's no formal upper 
bound, we don't stream messages internally so multi-GB ones might be 
problematic.
