[rabbitmq-discuss] Are .beam files compiled for any architecture?

I've downloaded rabbitmq-server-generic-unix-2.1.0.tar.gz, and I see that it includes precompiled Erlang .beam files.

Are these .beam files compiled with native code optimization for the x86 architecture?

Or are they just straight Erlang byte codes, and can therefore run on any (non-x86) architecture?

Thanks!
