The great thing about AMQP is that it should not be an 'either or'
decision.  Like with TCP and HTTP choose what works for you - and
maybe use *both* brokers.  The RabbitMQ and Qpid teams have invested
in different areas.  Sure there is a lot of overlap, because our goal
is interoperable, standard, open business messaging.

I recommend that you dig around some of the community links and "get
started" pages.  That may help shed light on your question.  For
example this is a very nice recent presentation by Paolo Negri:
