Based on a cursory study of 
http://qpid.apache.org/connection-url-format.html, could it be the case 
that you want the following instead?

amqp://guest:guest@/?brokerlist='tcp://localhost:5672'

RabbitMQ ships with these default settings:

  - username "guest"
  - password "guest"
  - virtual-host "/" (not "/localhost")
