Alexis,
I'd dearly love to take on the task, but a man has to know his
limitations. I don't have the requisite knowledge to do any sort of a
decent job of the refactoring. While I am trying to get to grips with
as much of the low level stuff as I can, I'm nowhere near
understanding enough to do anything useful. This has to be done
properly, so the services of an industrial-strength 'bits and bytes'
Ruby person are required. Sadly, I am not such a person :(
