I'm not an "official" Gentoo dev with commit rights to main portage,
merely a contributor/bug reporter/tester to packages that I use myself.

The point was that it has to be hosted somewhere. Right now it is on my
home server with DynDNS address, so it makes sense to have it in a more
permanent/accessible place.
The official repo for user-contributed ebuilds is the Sunrise overlay at
http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise and would be just as good.
